Finally attending a HBCU

I cannot begin to explain how excited I am to finally be attending a HBCU. I dont know WHAT I was thinking back in 2002! Anywho...Im just really looking to network and meet new people in ATL. Im from Louisiana...I lost a couple of things from the hurricane but not as much as others so Im truely blessed! Moving to ATL is my new start!

I have been hearing a lot of negative things about attending HBCUs, which obviously have not turned me away, but I just wanted to get this out!

I am prissy! I am probaly the most broke prissy girl you will ever meet. I speak correct grammar...and I have been told because I have a soft voice etc. etc. "i wouldnt make it at a HBCU!" HA! I have been told it is hard to make friends at a HBCU especially in Atlanta because the people are so stuck up and saddity! HA! Im not afraid to go to ATL! People have been trying to discourage me but I wont let it happen!

So anywho...get at me folks!!!! ;-D

Girrrl, you sound EXACTLY like me! This was my first semester at an HBCU. I transferred from VA and went to a white school. And don't get discouraged! People did the same to me but I did it anyway. I speak probably a little more correct than anyone I know..lol. And prissy...that's my middle name! But it won't be that hard to make a friend...just holla at me girl!

I know u will do well. BE YOURSELF... believe in the Lord... do not lose your faith and religion. Stick to your values and morals... dont lose yourself in the crowd. I came alllll the way from CAli to AL to attend Alabama State University, the best institution of higher learning in the world, and with everything (new) in life, it takes time to acquaint yourself and learn how to adapt and survive! I wish u allll the BEST... be strong, stay focused and remember your goal and reason for attending school! dont be afraid to ask questions, excel, get active and involved and enjoy your college career! PRAY PRAY PRAY... dont give up... u can and will do all things through Christ... who strengthens you! Much love peace happiness and success to u family and friends. CRYSTAL... halla!

Toughest thing to get ajusted to the way HBCU handle their affairs. Most personal give you the run around. I guess they get a kick out of it. Be patient and pray...and pray.
