
#19/21 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TRAVELS TO HAMPTON FOR SUNDAY NIGHT MATCH-UP

HAMPTON, VA- #21/19 Temple women's basketball will look to continue its four-game winning streak on Sunday night when it travels to Hampton, Va. for a match-up with the Hampton University Pirates at 6 p.m. This is the first of a two game roadtrip for the Owls, who will take on Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday, November 29 at 7 p.m.
Temple is riding a four game winning streak after defeating Penn on November 22, 72-53. Khadija Bowens netted 21 points, including 14 first-half points, to lead TU The Owls overcame a poor first-half performance where they made just 14 of 33 shots to shoot 53.3% from the field in the second half, as opposed to the Quakers' 30.4%. Candice Dupree, who also scored in double figures, scored 15 of her 17 total points in the second half, while Kamesha Hairston contributed 14 points. Hairston was also a dominating force on defense, totaling 4 steals, three blocks and five rebounds. Bowens had three steals. Lady Comfort and Dupree led Temple with eight rebounds a piece.
Dupree leads the Owls in virtually every statistical category, averaging 17.3 ppg and10.3 rpg. Bowens is second with 12.3 ppg and Comfort is second in rebounds with 6.3 rpg.
Hampton is winless thus far this season, with its latest loss coming at the hands of Grambling State, 91-80, on November 22. Sophomore Monica Rogers chipped in with a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds while freshman Linda Rickenbacker was dominate defensively recording five steals.
Rachel Butler leads the Pirates with 15.0 ppg, while Rogers is second with 12.7. Rogers leads HU with 8.3 rpg.
Series History
This is the second meeting for the Pirates and the Owls, with Temple leading the all-time series, 1-0. TU won the teams’ last meeting, 73-64, on January 2, 2005 in Philadelphia.
