Texas Southern University recognizes Dr. Sarah Janes for Promotion of Diversity in Maritime Industry (346 hits)

Texas Southern University recently recognized Dr. Sarah Janes, vice president of Continuing and Professional Development (CPD) at San Jacinto College, and has selected her to receive the TSU Paul Cuffee Maritime Leadership Award (PCMLA) for promotion of diversity within the maritime industry.

The Texas Southern University (TSU) Maritime Industry Advisory Board awards the PCMLA to professionals who are dedicated to advancing minorities in the maritime industry along the Texas Gulf Coast. Dr. Janes serves on the steering committee for the Maritime Youth Expo, an annual event that exposes local school-aged students to the maritime industry. She also serves as vice president on the Port of Houston Maritime Education Foundation.

"I am honored to receive the Paul Cuffee Maritime Leadership Award," said Dr. Janes. "The maritime industry encompasses a wealth of career opportunities. By joining together and forging strong partnerships, we can continue to promote these opportunities among the next generation of skilled mariners and provide the training the industry demands in preparation for growth in this region."
