Get Rich or Die Tryin' (802 hits)

Ok I know that everyone has their opinion about 50 Cents new movie, but if you choose to go then you should atleast be able to enjoy it, right?? Wrong, in Myrtle Beach, SC that wasn't the case. At a new mall that featured the movie on opening night, every brother and sister that went and paid tickets to watch the movie were treated as suspects. Purses and people were checked by security; never has this happened before so why now??? Racism will never die....

Although I think ti is ridiculous that people were searched at "Diary" (after all, this was a semi-religous movie), I don't believe it was overt racism that prompted increased security at "Get Rich..". Look at how many Black movies, especially in the nineties, were accompanied by violence. Although I think it is unfortunate, theatre owners were going off of set precedent. Who we should be mad at are the brothers and sisters who propagate these beliefs in our violent nature by killing people ( like they did in the theatre in PA), by having and taking guns to schools and malls and movie theatres. These are the people who are constantly shining a negative light on the rest of us who are nonviolent and just trying to make it.

I would just like to add that I think that society pays too much attention to the small things. 50 cent to me is "a small thing" there are much more interesting things that can be reported on these days. As a person that was born and raised in NY (and I'm a female) I can truly understand 50's movie. To the world at large "The man is telling a story", his story. Unfortunately his life was full of drug selling and violence but my people, my real people, this is going on in our neighborhoods everyday but because it is 50 cent, there is a problem. I do not agree with everything that 50 says but I think that the brother had it hard getting into the industry (being blacklisted, being shot, losing Jam Master Jay as a result of his helping 50) and now he telling his story like it is. If you dont like him, dont watch him, dont buy his records and for all those parents fussing about 50's language, Be a parent and dont allow his music in your home but as black people leave 50 alone and find another target cuz after all, 50 aint put a gun to ur head and make you watch his movie or his records. NY 2 I DIE!

I respect this post Sis.
I am a Tupac fan. I relate to what he says and the many sides he showed. Dear Mama was one of my fav songs of his. I think he was a very talented young man fighting many demons.

I feel the same way about 50 cent. I like him, feel his music to a certain degree, don't agree with all his videos lyrics etc.
I respect sistahs but he like I was never taught to respect and with no men of decent stature around...
Look at what he has dealt with in the music industry, you think Vivica Fox is an isolated case in how she threw herself on him at twice his age. I mean the age thing was cool but he saw her for what she was. I have dealt with a lot of the same and am nowhere near the level of popularity he is.
People usually live, write, walk, talk, eat etc. from what they have known as well as I have.
I was not a bad person, but I did some and participated in negative things.
50 cent is 21 years old, lets see how he develops hopefully to live and learn more.
I applaud you for your convictions and boldness, I feel your rightful concern.
I have talked about relationships.
Those girls in his videos of all ages, all those females that buy his records, all those girls he is sleeping with are the norm of a female population that wants the thug, badboy etc.
They flock to him, he is living his part as I once did and has to deal with those who blames him for what he is trained to do.
I live my life a certain way Sis, many females still come my way, I am still a man, human and I struggle to avoid and say no for the right reasons, guess how many females question my manhood verses men who question my manhood and both s*xes equally know what I am trying to do in my life?
Hint the opposite s*x.
I can say so much more here.
\Just remember many blogs have been done here on women that want the badboys and not the nice guys, even in some blogs I have done.
Enough for now.
