
Talladega College is preparing to celebrate with alumni, visitors and friends during the Annual Reunion Weekend scheduled for May 10-12, 2013. Mothers of TC graduates and the surrounding area can expect to have an exciting Mother’s Day weekend courtesy of Talladega College. The weekend is filled with activities that will enthuse local residents.
“We are pleased this year to welcome Mr. Frankie Beverly and Maze to the Talladega area. These artists have been to Birmingham and other nearby cities. The President’s Scholarship Concert is an annual fundraiser where through entertainment, we raise money to create academic opportunities for our students,” remarks President, Dr. Billy C. Hawkins. Talladega College’s theme of the weekend is “Celebrating 145 Years of Academic Excellence.”
Talladega College alumni yearly reunite in the city for the Annual Reunion Weekend festivities. A schedule packed with campus events is set for Friday through Sunday. The highlight evening activity will be the 6th Annual President’s Scholarship Concert that will take place on Friday, May 10, 2013, 8 p.m. at the Talladega Superspeedway Dome with Frankie Beverly and Maze in concert. There will be a special guest appearance by Comedian Lightfoot and an added surprise special guest, in addition to music provided by DJ Bad Boy Butch of Birmingham.
On Saturday, the alumni, graduating seniors, family and friends will celebrate with President Hawkins at the Alumni Picnic on the campus. There will be an afternoon art show and a ‘Red Carpet Banquet’ in the evening for alumni and guests in the gymnasium. Sunday morning at 9 a.m., the 138th Commencement Exercises will take place and Talladega College’s graduating class will march and receive their bachelor diploma as their family, friends, professors and staff watch with pride. The Golden Class of 1963 will also be acknowledged during the Commencement Exercises.
