Something from T.D. Jakes (265 hits)

This is something else just sent to me that I choose to share from good brothers and sisters I have had the pleasure to make their acquaintance:

The Spellbreaker
Date: Thursday, October 27, 2005

Ever so often in life, we stray away from the path of our destiny. Unknowingly, we slip by the wayside as a result of some unpredictable experience, hardship or distraction. In many cases, we become so numbed by the painful and devastating affects of disappointment and failure that we lose our zeal for life. Everything just stops and we wonder how we will ever get back up again. It’s almost like being under a spell. Deep inside we scream for relief, hoping that someone will come along and break the spell.

Too many times, we wait until we reach an all-time low before we seek God for help. Generally we try to fix our problems ourselves by seeking help from other people such as friends, coworkers, a significant other or counselor. After all efforts are exhausted, we turn to God as the final resort hoping that He will break the spell.

Many people mistakenly believe that going to church is turning to God, but it’s not. While going to church can lead us to God, routinely showing up for Sunday service is not the same as having a personal relationship or experience with God.

Too often we get caught up in the “church” experience – lifting our hands during praise only because we’re expected to, or standing up because the preacher “sounds” good. But it is the change of heart and mind that occurs outside the church, however, that reveals whether we’ve actually had a “God” experience.

The enemy has no problem with you having a “church” experience because he knows there is no true power in such an experience. In fact, he thrives in this area by polluting the minds of people to believe that the emotional aspects we sometimes encounter while in church, is actually a move of God.

Don’t get me wrong, a person can experience a “move of God” at church that will ultimately produce change in every aspect of his or her life. This occurs when the Word of God sinks into that person’s spirit and makes a heart connection.

When you truly experience a move of God, it is undeniable. One touch from the Lord is enough to break any spell. Some people can tell you about the profound affect God made in their lives when they were at their lowest point. He picked them up and turned their circumstances around in a way that only God can.

God has already predestined the path for your life. And only He knows the road ahead.
If you need God to move in your life right now, or if you need Him to break the spell that’s been keeping you back for far too long, turn to Him. Seek His wisdom and begin making Him your first priority. Don’t try to dictate how or when He responds and don’t short change Him by only seeking the provision you need. Step over the line that separates you from yesterday into today. Stay in God’s flow and experience His best for you. Your destiny awaits!
