
Texas Southern University Student Regent, Juan A. Sorto, has been selected as a finalist for the Houston Texans Community Quarterback Award. The Houston Texans partner with the United Way of Greater Houston to recognize work by outstanding volunteers who exemplify leadership, dedication and a commitment to improving their communities. As a finalist for the Community Quarterback award, Sorto, and the other finalists, will be recognized at the Houston Texans game, against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, December 23rd. In addition, Sorto’s organization will receive a $1,500 contribution from the Houston Texans Foundation, two tickets to the game and a parking pass.
"It is an honor and a privilege to share this award with my fellow Texas Southern University community and the Star of Hope, which continues to teach me the real meaning of life. I believe this meaning involves on helping each other succeed. I believe that Texas Southern is providing me with the most important tool, an education, to continue making a difference in this world. I thank the Star of Hope for allowing my passion to resonate throughout the organization."
