Grant Hill Waits for Test Results
The Orlando Magic sent forward Grant Hill's tests results to a specialist on Friday to determine whether Hill tore a muscle above the pelvis bone.
Hill said that he felt pain on the first play of their game last Wednesday and regrets that he continued to play.
Hill sat out last night's preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks last night and the team is hoping that he will be back on the court soon.
The Magic's regular season opens Nov. 2 at home against the Indiana Pacers.
Hawks Still Coping After Colliers Death
The Atlanta Hawks are trying to deal with the tragedy of losing former teammate Jason Collier who died suddenly on Oct. 15 after having trouble breathing in his sleep.
The team has been 2-3 in the preseason so far and are hoping to have a successful season despite Collier's death.
Student Killed After Fallen Goalpost
A student at the University of Minnesota at Morris was killed Saturday when a goalpost was pulled down at the end of the Cougars' homecoming win. Richard Thomas Rose was a junior at Morris and a member of the basketball team, the school said.
Rose was pronounced dead on arrival to the hospital after attempts to revive him at the stadium failed.
Penn State Coach Joe Patero gets 350th Win
Penn State football coach Joe Paterno got his 350th win of his career in grand fashion in a romping of Illinois.
The Nittany Lions won 63-10 against the Illini, thanks in large part to quarterback Michael Robinson, who accounted for the Lions' first six touchdowns.
Eagles Fans Evacuate After False Alarm
A false alarm ordering Philadelphia Eagles fans to evacuate Lincoln Stadium went off in the second half of their match against the San Diego Chargers.
The announcement came over the public-address system although no fans seemed to follow instructions.
Former Indians Owner Ted Bonda Dies
Former Cleveland Indians owner Ted Bonda died Saturday of complications resulting from Alzheimer's disease.
During Bonda's ownership of the Indians he hired Frank Robinson as baseball's first black skipper. Bonda was 88.
