Jamie Foxx Winning an Oscar
A man’s character is judged upon how he performs in the public eye. Well by that standard alone Jamie Foxx’s character as Ray Charles was superb and outstanding. The brilliance and intelligence to cultivate the audience into believing that he was not only acting was a key to him winning the Oscar. He not only acted but he actually performed as if he was the real living proof of Ray Charles and that is what separated Jamie Foxx from so many other caliber actors this past year.
The idea of acting is to present to the audience an aspect of your ability to act as a character or figure in which the audience hasn’t seen you perform as. Usually referred to as a comedian or a comedic actor, Jamie has taken his career as a serious actor or leading star in Hollywood to a whole another level with his performance in Ray. From beginning to end, one could actually feel as if they were reliving the life of Mr. Charles through the eyes of Mr. Foxx.
Now there are those who might say that the only reason that Mr. Foxx won the Oscar is because Ray Charles dead before the movie was released. Therefore, people were feeling sympathy for the passing of Mr. Charles and that’s why Mr. Foxx won the Oscar. While that argument is legitimate and fair to say, I want to point out that Mr. Foxx only other real serious role prior to Ray was in Collateral when he was a co-star with Tom Cruise, a movie icon. Therefore, who would have ever expected that Mr. Foxx would over succeed as the character of Ray by exceeding expectations of every movie lover who went to see the movie?
Mr. Foxx performance was so magnificent in Ray that he made the audience feel as if they were traveling through time into the heart and soul of Mr. Charles as if he was still living on earth. Jamie Foxx delivered perhaps the best personality and charisma needed to be Ray Charles. Then the ability to perform as a real live walking blind man in each and every seen with his eyes closed shut is what really put Mr. Foxx’s performance above all others.
While tons can say that Mr. Foxx’s performance was overrated, they can not say that it was easy to sell the idea that he performed each seen with his eyes closed shut. Therefore, if the audience truly believed that his Mr. Foxx’s performance was genuine and original than without a shadow of a doubt there is no reason why the Oscar for best actor should not have gone to him.

He was very convincing. while you watch the movie you forget that is him all together. He actually favors him in the pictures that feature at the end. Another actor/actress that did superb to me was Regina king, that movie showed her true talent.
