I’m a big girl, and no matter what, I never had a problem with my size. My parents taught me that God makes nothing perfect, we all have our imperfections. I was also taught to love me for whom and what I am, not what society wants me to be. So the big girl jokes, will never offend me. Though, I have a problem, with smaller women, who think we (big girls) can’t wear or stay within the latest fashion genre. Newsflash, there are plus size stores that aid us with this miseducation (Ashley Stewart, Lane Bryant, Torrid, etc.) In some aspects, I guess it’s true what the comedienne Mo’Nique says “skinny women are evil” In addition to that, I have this huge problem, with men and women who always quote those same tired lines “for a big girl you keep yourself up”, and “even though you big, you have a pretty face.” But hold up, I have a problem with the big women who ask their man that question “Do these jeans make me look fat?” That is the most ignorant question someone plus size can ask. If you’re labeled plus size (size 16 and above), then you’re going to look a little bigger than the mannequin wearing them on display. Ladies don’t set yourself up for failure, he only answers in consideration of your feelings. I posted this blog, to express how I and other may feel towards these statements. So to both, big and small, can we stop badgering each other and ourselves.
