I was vilified when I wrote about the tragic incident between Rihanna the beautiful young singer and Chris Brown the handsome crooner.
What I said, was 1. he was guilty as charged before the charge, and 2. what I said was that we as "sisters" should have rallied around her in support.
Instead I was bombarded by what I called cry-baby brothers who don't know what being a "man" means, and the two faced sisters who rallied to "save the brotha" Oh please!!
I spoke of the impact on women everywhere if she went back to him..while having to absorb the absurdity of contrary statements that they "should work it out" oh please !! again..
I pondered the idea of writing to the Minister of Barbados after hearing her father' s lame retort, "well I support my daughter in whatever decision she makes" if you don't understand my angst, then surely you understand that Beyonce is truly Mr. Knowles baby and just what do you think, his response would have been?
You already know.
I thought about it and said to myself, leave it in God's hands. She has now said all that I hoped she would say after not leaning upon her own understanding. And, she dropped the clincher..her father abused her mother and broke her nose. I knew his response was lame. I knew he didn't say the right things. And I thought to myself what a weakling. Well he was a drug user, the ultimate panacea for users to eradicate pain.
We that have sat on domestic violence boards, and I personally, that produced a documentary entitled "Battled Women and the Law" in 1993, shown on then Virginia's Continental Cable, know intrinsically that the underpinnings of domestic violence do not change.
You can analyze it spiritually, genetically, behaviorally or any other "-lly." The bottom line is that, that kind of brutality is a cruel manisfestation of a deep rooted lack of self worth of which money and fame cannot begin to dissolve.
Here is this lovely young lady, as are all in my opinion the females who find that their compassionate heart is shattered by the insecurity and pain that the male carries.
Sometimes in life , when every one is against you, but you really know, all one can do is sit back and wait and watch. There it is. My moment. I was right then and I am right now. It begins with a slap and ends with bruises, welts, broken bones and insufferable humiliation.
So if you are reading this today, and you find yourself in this predicament, LEAVE HIM. Believe me when I tell you, that he is blocking your blessings. Know that you are worthy and beautiful and deserving of the love and tender care of your mate.
One more thing? "Oh Marta, let's not be so hard on the brothers" oh, please again!!
God in his Mercy has put at the helm of the supposedly most powerful society/ nation on earth, what else "a brother" that in my not so humble opinion is to let you know, "brothers" are quite capable of leadership, of themselves in achievements, of their families and of the world. Case Closed.
