Life's Twist

Today I met with a financial aid advisor, because my mom was denied of her parent plus loan, which coverd the majority of my tution this year. Well after talking about a number of things me and the advisor got on school and money. Well for me to go to JCSU the whole year this year my mom would have to pay close to $14,500 out of her pocket. So the advisor said that my selection of schools was bad, not based on the school but the price tag. I agree $20,000 a year is a knockout in the pocket. So he suggested that I either start at the local community college and transfer to an in-state public school(Norfolk State or Virginia State) and go their. My diliema was that JCSU was my #1 school from the jump and I fought so hard to get in and to get accepted. So now i'm thinking about doing my first semester at JCSU, since my mom can afford that and then transfer to NSU or VSU for 2nd semester and my sophomore year. After that I would transfer back to JCSU and finish my degree there.

All of this comes after I had been rejected from JCSU and then accepted. I fell in love with the school once i went to orientation and now i'm faced with not being able to go or going for a short amount of time. I got the head manager position at JCSU and really developed some good relationships with staff over the past 5 months. My only worry is not having the money come my junior year to transfer back to JCSU and not being able to go where I really wanted to, but i guess the rigors of life, you don't always get what you want no matter how bad you want it. If any of you have any suggestions feel free to comment, i'm sure i'm not the first this has happened to....PEACE & LOVE -=Fresh=-

Brother be encouraged my mother was denied for a parent plus loan too...but oh the God I serve is mighty and powerful. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and all the silver and gold belongs to him. Be encouraged if God brings you to it certainly he can bring you through it. Just pray and ask him for direction. You were first denied enrollment then accepted so God knows what you need before you even need it. "for all things work together for good for those who love the lord and are called accordong to his purpose." Keep your head up and continue to pray. Serach UNCF.org for a scholarship for the second semester. I will be praying for you and I trust that God will show his eminent glory unto you!

I know many of us are having the same problem. My mother was approved for the loan but has decided not to take it out. You can go to a private bank and get the money. Do not let anyone put a price on your education. All that transfering is no good. It will cause you to loose credits and graduate later. Good luck
