The Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) National Office is offering a unique professional development opportunity exclusively for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) emerging leaders! We are introducing a Leadership Institute specifically designed for junior faculty who are teaching in the Behavioral Health Services or related field and have taught, integrated or infused Substance Use Disorders and/or Mental Health in their teaching. The program is designed to help Institute participants prepare for greater responsibility and to contribute more to their respective HBCU institution, and ultimately, the addictions treatment and recovery services field.
Beginning in March recruitment efforts have begun to identify potential ATTC Leadership Institute participants throughout the HBCU system. This recruitment campaign is in partnership with Dr. Eugene Herrington (HBCU Center for Excellence) and additional ATTC Leadership Institute Advisory Board members.
We invite junior faculty members to consider applying, as the deadline for application is fast approaching -- April 15th.
As the demand for addictions professionals is increasing simultaneously with today’s addictions leaders retiring, it is important to cultivate a diverse group of new leaders within the addictions profession and related fields through the enhancement of knowledge and development of competencies. The ATTC Network addresses these critical workforce issues through a broad range of initiatives, including efforts to develop future leaders; create and expand continuing education and university coursework; increase clinical placements; and set educational standards. With these strategies in mind, it is our hope that HBCU faculty who participate and complete the ATTC Leadership Institute program will represent some of our field’s most knowledgeable, capable, and qualified leaders for tomorrow.
