"What else can he do man? 'I turned around and she had AIDS, AIDS, AIDS, AIDS..." - Ricky Smiley, on the subject of R. Kelly having Chapters 6 - 10 of "Trapped In The Closet"

Welcome to the sixth edition of The Blogger. In today's edition, War Of The Worlds review is in. I went to see the movie at a special screening on Monday. Black people and reparations...do we deserve them? My thoughts on that. Of course, the NBA Finals game will be reviewed, and some sad news to report. Let's get to it!

I went to see War Of The Worlds yesterday, and it blew me away. In case you haven't seen the previews, aliens invade Earth on an extermination mission. Tom Cruise plays a father who is divorced with two kids. He and his son don't like each other, and his daughter looks to her brother for support. However, they must bond together in order to survive the horrendous creatures. If you are easily scared, you'll be scared by this movie. The movie itself isn't scary, but it's surprising. Very good movie by Steven Speilberg, the master of directors. He did a good job of combining his military movies (Saving Private Ryan) and his alien movies (E.T.) together. I will definitely cop this on DVD! Good acting all around as the daughter goes through the most horrific experience of her life in one scene (everyone said "No" when it happened). The only thing I didn't like about the movie was the sometimes boring parts. Sometimes the action happens, and then it stops, leaving it open for a boring part. But the movie is still good. Check it out!

Some sad news to report. The voice of Winnie The Pooh's Tigger has died at the age of 82. His name is Paul Winchell. he worked as a ventriloquist, inventor, and children's TV show host. Man...this is sad. Tigger was no doubt one of the best animated characters on the show. Actually, they're all lovable. But Tigger was the man. This is sad, but what's next is also sad...

The voice of Winnie the Pooh's Piglet has died at the age of 80. His name is John Fiedler. Two deaths in one week involving the same show...sad. Piglet was one of the most popular characters on the show. Piglet was cool to me though. He and Pooh always were getting trouble. It's funny how ironic Piglet's character is. He's always worrying about trouble, but he keeps getting in it. Reminds me of Chucky off of Rugrats...

Coming in September (I think), there will be "Millions More Movement" movement. In case you don't know, it has been ten years since the first Million Men march, where a million+ Black men stormed the Capitol. Their goal was to let the government know that Black men would "man up" and take responsibility for their actions and their own. Now, they are doing it again. Only this time, they want the R word. Reparations. They want reparations for the time the lynchings, slavery, mass killings, racism, etc. that Blacks endured for over 400 years. They are demanding that Pres. Bush give every Black a form of reparation. They said the reparations doesn't have to be money; it can be land (the 40 acres and a mule promised at the end of the Civil War) and other things.

My opinion...we don't need it. We have gone through a lot, yes. We have been killed and held back, yes. But a look at the bigger picture...there are about 15 million Blacks in America. If the government were to give reparations back, imagine how much debt the country would be in? The country is already in the trillions and climbing as the stupid war rages on (WHERE ARE THOSE DANG WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION???). America is already having trouble with Medicare/Medicaid, and so on. Why add to the problems? To me, these reparations are kind of selfish. We are blessed to be in a country where we can be "free" by law and not held back due to some racist ruler. Why drown America?

We need to say forget reparations and continue to stand on our own two feet. Instead of fighting about reparations, work on unifying our Black community. Tell these ignorant kids to put the guns down and pick up a book. Tell our deadbeat Black fathers to man up and get a job and take care of the precious gift they helped to make. Tell our Black teachers to stop trying to beat the kids when they mess up and love them. Tell our Black colleges and universities to become more ORGANIZED and know when the hell the semester is supposed to start! We need to work on that instead of wasting energy on reparations.

Man...the NBA Finals Game 7. What a game! I enjoyed the game, even though I was frustrated at the many missed shots. Congrats to the Spurs on winning the championship and giving Detroit a run for their money. Tim Duncan won the MVP, which I highly detest. Why does Duncan get it? He played terribly in most of the games the whole playoffs, but he's the MVP. What about Manu Ginnobli and Nazr Mohammed? Both of those players stepped up and gave the Spurs what they needed. Did you see the Ginnobli dunk? Man...I was so hyped at that! Ginnobli has really stepped it up for the Spurs. Mohammed helped shut Ben and Rasheed Wallace down! They weren't playing on their usual level the whole series, with the exception of Ben in Game 7. Why didn't they get the MVP award? In my opinion, Ginnobli, Mohammed, and Horry were the reasons Spurs won the series.

Thus, this ends another edition of The Blogger. Make sure you guys pick up the Dairy Of A Mad Black Woman, as it hits shelves today. Cassidy's cd is also out; cop it! As the heat continue to rise, stay out of the sun! Don't end up getting a stroke by working in this hot heat. Alright peeps...I'm out. Til next time, love, peace, and SOUL!!!!
