The Tom Joyner Foundation® announced the ‘full ride’ scholarship program that will cover all the expenses of one student planning to attend a Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) in the fall of 2009.

“Last year, we offered our first full-ride scholarship, and I’m really excited about doing it again,” said Tom Joyner, chairman of his Foundation and host of the top-ranked nationally syndicated radio show. “I can’t wait to meet some of the best and brightest students in the country.”

Britney Wilson, last year’s winner, is a freshman at Howard University. She impressed the Foundation’s scholarship committee with her solid academic record and her knowledge of local, national and international politics.

“Winning the Tom Joyner Foundation Full Ride Scholarship was a blessing,” said the native of Brooklyn, NY. “By giving me the opportunity to attend college without having any financial worries, it allows me to focus completely on achieving all of my goals which is something that I realize is very difficult for many other college students. Even more than that, it is a source of motivation because I strive to not only live up to the expectations and legacy of my family, my school and Tom Joyner Foundation. I take pride in representing black intellectuals who choose to attend HBCUs and I intend to show anyone who is doubtful just how much we are capable of accomplishing.”

Students will receive full tuition and stipends to cover room and board (on-campus only) and books up to 10 semesters.
