We are looking for a Sr. Electrical Engineer to work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing Teams, supporting and integrating new designs into a line of digital slide scanners. A Digital scanner is a sophisticated, high-precision, and automated electromechanical instrument for high-resolution scanning of pathological samples. This individual will be an integral part of the engineering initiative for cost and design optimization of the existing and new products. In addition to the sustainment of our current products, as a member of the systems team for new products and responsible for new design and manufacturability aspects plus knowledge transfer to production and field implementation. You will be responsible for electrical systems design from inception through design verification/validation, production, and finally to the end-users. Design, documentation, requirements, work, and project engineering support are expectations for this position.

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide manufacturing, field, supply-chain, and regulatory support as a subject-matter expert regarding the electrical engineering of Leica Biosystems Vista's digital pathology products

  • Contribute to electrical design by reducing cost, improving reliability, and mitigating supply chain risk

  • Design of manufacturing fixtures for assembly/test and alignment of optical & electro-mechanical assemblies in-house and at supplier

  • Support interaction with contract manufacturers and vendors throughout the design cycle for optimizing the design from manufacturability and cost standpoints

  • Own change orders and new product development efforts for systems projects, design changes, process changes, PCBAs, and cable/harness design

Required Skills/Experience/Education

  • BA/BS in Engineering (Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Mechatronics or other related majors) and minimum of 5 years of experience with Electronics design and/or development

  • Reading schematics with debug skills for electronics/PCB solving and Electronic tech skills eg. cabling, through-hole soldering, multimeter use, or oscilloscope use

  • 2+ years experience documenting electrical designs, preferably in a regulated environment

  • Familiarity with automation/robotics including stages, servo/stepper motors, or motion control/drives

  • Demonstrate the ability to make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact/risk assessments

Location:

  • Full time employment in Vista, California.

California Equal Pay Act

  • The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $140,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.

  • This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
