Survey/CAD Tech II | Raleigh, NC
Responsibilities
Perform various land surveying and CAD tasks under the direction of more senior Land Surveyors including:
- Operation, transport and setup of total stations, data collectors, GPS, and other land surveying equipment, when necessary
- Land surveying including boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic survey, route survey, construction stakeout and utility surveys
- Documenting all phases of survey work through clear field notes and data collection
- Perform survey office calculations to process field data and computations for construction layout
- Perform public records research to obtain deeds, plats, plans and other pertinent documents for projects and proposals
- Apply the Principles of Boundary Surveying to review and interpret deeds and plans to determine the location of boundary lines
- Perform CAD functions relating to the production and development of survey plans
- May perform field crew coordination and set up for all types of field surveys
- Direct the activities of a survey crew when needed
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to learn the proper use of GPS equipment and Robotic Instruments and mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of geometry
- Understanding of the basics of boundary, topographic, construction, and utility surveys
- Able to think critically
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with survey staff and clients
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry
- Ability to conduct tasks independently and review work of others
Qualifications
- HS Diploma (Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- 5-10 years of progressive professional land surveying experience, including experience with Autodesk Civil 3D CAD, Microstation and/or other drafting software
- Experienced in the Principles of Boundary Survey, Topographic, Construction/Utility Surveys and electronic data collection
- Thorough understanding of ALTA and boundary surveys is required
- Must be detail oriented, willing to travel and work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements
- Ability to transport land surveying equipment, navigate and traverse through difficult terrain, environments, and wooded areas, when necessary
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
- Must be able to lift 75lbs, when necessary
