Leica Microsystems is hiring for a Field Applications Scientist in the Washington D.C. / NIH Territory (Bethesda, MD)
Come join a fantastic team! The Field Applications Scientist will be primarily responsible for providing technical and application sales support for the Life Science Research Confocal products. Support will be provided to Leicas Life Science Research customers, Sales Specialists and agents in all facets of their selling activities. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating and providing customer support on all confocal products, remote and on-site product demonstrations, and workshops.
Additionally, the Field Applications Scientist consults with customers and sales/applications specialists to deeply understand and provide extensive application support on issues related to general microscopy; performs remote online troubleshooting and training sessions with end customers and sales reps; supports exhibitions and coordinates short course support, including planning, communicating, teaching and reporting; handles demonstration system logistics and confirms correct system functionality; and processes customer provided samples and develops methods to address specific customer needs.
Perform successful confocal product demonstrations to drive sales results
Schedule and support product seminars, workshops, and courses for customers and Leica employees
Provide expert product, application and software support to customers, sales and service organization
Triage technical problems during customer calls
Document/route support issue and communicate/resolve support requests
Develop Protocols to Image Customer Samples
Up to 50% travel within territory, assisting colleagues in other territories, and internal trainings
Minimum of BA/BS in an engineering or computer science field (advanced degree preferred)
Masters or PhD degree preferred
Minimum 2 years in a research, quality-control or production environment, applying microscopy and digital imaging techniques to drive results
In-depth knowledge of biological imaging applications and workflow
Experience training others on how to apply imaging equipment and techniques to solve scientific questions
Experience in a customer-facing support role (preferred)
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting advanced imaging equipment, hardware and software (preferred)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to excel autonomously in a team environment
Desired qualifications express expectations for ideal/fully proficient candidates; equivalent experience will also be considered.
