Join our team as the Planning Manager! The successful candidate will have global responsibility for driving On-Time Delivery (OTD) and inventory value for our finished goods products offered by Leica Biosystems from distribution points globally. You will manage a team of order managers and supply planner(s) to optimize customer experience and improve transparency towards selling units about shipping and availability of selected LBS portfolio

You will also be responsible for implementation of special initiatives within the Global Supply Chain team plus additional projects as needed or assigned.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Help to improve S&OP/PSI process within Global Supply Chain

  • Optimize supply chain productivity, inventory and freight spend though capacity and takt planning, along with other long-term planning at the BUs.

  • Work with defined sales and marketing figures to define forecast for responsible items. Improve forecast accuracy of the Sales team.

  • Meet key deliverables such as On-Time Delivery and Inventory value through daily management.

  • Manage team to develop and publish root cause and countermeasure analysis using Problem Solving Process

  • Drive supplier maintenance including creation and management of POs, escalating price discrepancies, supplier OTD and overall supplier performance. Drive corrective actions to resolve supplier failures.

  • Create, review and update item master information within SAP.

Execute on the road map to:

  • Meet and exceed key deliverables such as Inventory value and On Time Delivery

  • Drive standardized behavior with Danaher specific material planning tools to continuously improve the key KPIs this includes planning calculators, inventory management, production planning tools, scrap and productivity improvements

  • Define an audit process for inventory and OTD processes (eg. Lead time, minimum order quantities, order rate, forecast bias) with improvements driven through the matrix organization

  • Create, review and validate work instructions for the team

  • Be a key developer in reports/tools to help drive improvement.

  • Contribute to team effort by driving daily management and determining necessary escalations of issues as needed.

  • Support cross functional projects to improve process and create transparency in the organization and to achieve our strategy

  • Report progress on current initiatives or key issues to upper-level daily management and escalate to senior management as necessary.

  • Train or facilitate for DBS activities including Daily Management, TPI/VSM, DMS and Kaizen

  • Work across multiple sites, regions, and functions to achieve targets

  • Build and manage a team to support the GSC strategy

Required Education, Experience, Skills

  • Bachelors degree in related discipline preferred in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering

  • 5 years experience in purchasing and supply chain roles within a manufacturing company

  • Building/Managing planning and order management team

  • Excellent skills with MS Office Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)

  • Experience working with global teams (eg China, Europe, ANZ)

  • ERP experience

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement Concepts

Desired Experience/Skills:

  • Database experience: MS Access, Quickbase or Qlikview preferred; Power BI

  • Project Management; Action Planning, etc.

  • SAP


  • Occasional (15-20%)
