Job Description – Mgr. Pre Sales Support


Key Responsibilities:


The Mgr Pre Sales Support is a leadership role with management responsibility over a team of Solutions Architects and Delivery Consultants within the CDCT Solution area which includes the Advanced Networking and Hybrid IT Practice areas. CDCT success involves driving both product (hardware, software) and services (consulting, professional and managed) revenue/GP across the entire portfolio of vendors and offerings.


Specific management activities are divided according to the following categories:

  • Define and promote offerings from your team

  • Create and maintain a growth plan for team roster

  • Create and maintain a training plan for team members

  • Day to Day management of direct reports, including expense approvals, performance management, quarterly reviews, 1:1s, etc.

  • Measure SA productivity and manage SA variable comp plans to budget

  • Participate in vendor discussions, strategy sessions, key partner enablement initiatives, and conferences to ensure the SA team is highly performant and effective with strategic technologies and solutions

  • Provide advice, oversight, and support for the Advanced Networking and Hybrid IT teams

  • Review and improve customer-facing documentation, specifically Statements of Work, BOMs, and Technical Design docs

  • Cultural advocacy for Insight Canada through participation in team building events, and otherwise fostering an enjoyable work environment and living out our values of Hunger, Heart and Harmony

  • Deliver Revenue and GP against budget and manage the CDCT SG&A to deliver EFO


In addition to management responsibilities, the Mgr Pre Sales Support will also play a role in the strategic direction of the Solution Area as a whole. These activities will include, but are not limited to:


  • Define strategy, lead complex cross-functional teams and advance new and innovative technologies to improve customer’s corporate profitability and performance

  • Develop IP, methodologies, frameworks and standards for Insight CDCT offerings

  • Provide advisory services, liaising with clients to understand and recommend solutions to meet needs and continually improve the CDCT offering catalog

  • Lead in designing, specifying and selecting product and service solutions, considering functionality, data, security, integration, infrastructure and performance

  • Manage Vendor relationships for the CDCT Solution area

  • Provide pre-sales technical support to enable customers to architect, develop, deploy and consume CDCT solutions

  • Act with superior customer focus in mind as an integral member of the Insight Canada presales and delivery teams in generating sales pipeline, accelerating technical sales cycles and securing deal closure using deep technical expertise in the core domain as well as in adjacent technologies

  • Demonstrate the business value of cloud and hybrid solutions based on an understanding of the customer’s enterprise IT architecture, customer business priorities and the competitive landscape

  • Lead in the preparation and delivery of training to the Insight Canada sales teams on go-to-market solutions

  • Serve as the primary connection and orchestration point for other technical resources, providing guidance, best practices and escalation within the CDCT solution area

  • Provide architecture and deployment guidance, develop project delivery IP and sales collateral and provide technical leadership to the Advanced Networking and Hybrid IT presales and delivery teams

  • Participate in Insight Canada and vendor technical communities and in the broader industry through events, blogs, whitepapers, and articles for the CDCT Solution Area


Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of technical leadership in a sales and/or consulting environment

  • 2+ years in a leadership role or capacity

  • Demonstrated success in delivering consistent business growth

  • Ability to attract and retain top industry talent, and build high performing teams

  • The ability to accurately and effectively communicate both the technical and non-technical aspects of hybrid technologies and products to a variety of stakeholders within a wide array of presentation settings

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical consulting or Enterprise technical support environment

  • Strong organization, time management, project management and negotiation skills desired 

  • Ability to handle customer critical issues and work in difficult situations
