Senior Producer, Video Content|
The Senior Producer is responsible for overseeing the creation and production of video content for distribution across multiple MLS Digital, club and partner platforms (including social channels) with a special emphasis on matchnight content.
A video storyteller and project manager, the Senior Producer will be charged with ideating and identifying powerful MLS stories and managing the resources and staff available to deliver compelling videos that drive digital engagement and overall interest in the league.
Oversee the creation, production and distribution of various digital video series and standalone responsive video content;
•Oversee matchnight video staff and video content production, working with Editor-in-Chief to identify and create responsive content featuring the top storylines, stars and highlights;
•Provide editorial guidance and exercise strong editorial judgement during the production process for all videos, including potential sensitive material;
•Maximize available production resources and prioritize projects as necessary;
•Manage experienced on-camera talent and develop emerging on-camera personalities;
•Optimize content utilizing analytics to prioritize engagement and drive business results;
•Optimize video content for all social platforms and distribution channels;
•Coordinate publishing and programming of content with partners and other members of the MLS Digital team to ensure maximum reach and engagement;
•Lead studio and field productions from creation to completion, including: ideation, scripting, scheduling, budgeting, production, distribution and content review;
•Leverage media availability and exclusive content capture opportunities with MLS players, coaches and personalities, including carwashes (from New York City studio or other remote locations) and access to international soccer personalities;
•Monitor digital video content trends (production, distribution, etc.) and implement and experiment with new techniques or technology;
•Manage junior producers, editors, as well as freelancer creators. Management opportunities will involve communicating job expectations and developing personal growth opportunities for employees, as well as carrying out the Performance Management process: ◦Plan, monitor, and review performance;
◦Coach and counsel employees;
◦Develop and implement department procedures and productivity standards and reinforce Company policies.
•Manage hiring and onboarding process by interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training employees as necessary.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education and Experience:
•5+ years of experience creating compelling and engaging digital video content;
•Hands-on production experience in general entertainment/news/sports;
•Basic shooting and editing skills and familiarity with AVID systems;
•Experience with and knowledge of leading and emerging social media platforms;
•Experience with developing an editorial calendar/programming schedule;
•Hands-on studio production experience a plus.
•Strong project management skills and the commitment and ability to manage time and deadlines;
•Proven ability to generate new ideas and translate them into high-quality, engaging content through creativity and powerful storytelling;
•Sharp editorial judgement and demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills;
•Independent thinker who is also a team player;
•Ability to use data and analytics to inform editorial/programming decisions to optimize content;
•Passion for soccer and knowledge of Major League Soccer, its clubs and players;
•Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail;
•High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance;
•Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment, working under tight deadlines;
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally;
•Detail-oriented approach with an ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision;
•Flexibility to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including matchnights: evenings, weekends and holidays, as necessary;
•Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
•Advanced shooting and editing skills a plus;
•Knowledge of the Spanish language (business proficiency) a plus.
