Senior CAD Designer – Elevator / Vertical Transportation
VHB’s growing Northeast region has an immediate need for a Senior CAD Designer with strong experience in AutoCAD, elevator design experience a plus, to join our Vertical Transportation team. This candidate, if meets all qualifications, may be able to work remotely, within our office footprint.
Responsibilities
- Design criteria for projects requiring the application of advanced engineering principles, material properties, and construction, installation, and maintenance procedures
- Develops engineering drawings, conceptual plans, and exhibits for a variety of projects ranging in size and complexity
- Plans, research, and produces contract drawings based on constraints defined by the project engineer, review agencies, and client needs
- Determines CAD usage and application on projects
- Recognizes and resolves potential construction conflicts and difficulties identified during design
- Aids in the preparation of technical specifications as requested by the project engineer
- Estimates number of sheets and contract drawings as well as production time required for design manager’s review
- Ensures overall consistency, quality, technical accuracy, and design on projects

Marketing Lead| Flexible Location
The Marketing Lead partners with marketing management, Market and Client Focus teams, and Pursuit Champions to execute marketing activities that support revenue growth. Responsibilities
- Work within a team of professionals in developing site civil engineering plans, reports and specifications for a multitude of land development projects

Under moderate supervision receives assignments to conduct spatial analyses. Produces maps, configures web and mobile applications that express the results of analytical processes using Geographic Information System (GIS) desktop and online software. VHB’s is looking to add an Electrical Engineer with extensive solar and battery storage design experience to our growing Energy Engineering practice. The position would work with other practice groups in VHB, including civil and structural engineering, environmental, planning, and regulatory groups primarily as part of an integrated team supporting renewable energy project design, permitting, and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Assist and oversee the development of electrical layout, one-line documents, construction documents, and specifications for commercial and utility scale solar PV and battery storage systems.

VHB’s Environmental Resources Group in Atlanta is seeking a historian to work with our expanding cultural resources group. Key responsibilities include historic resource survey and the preparation of environmental and planning-related documents for transportation, planning, and land development projects.
This position requires periodic outdoor work with limited travel. Strong written and verbal communication skills are paramount, and the ideal candidate must be detail-oriented with the ability to effectively convey technical information. Strong organizational skills are essential, and the ideal candidate must be able to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and manage cultural resource identification and evaluation surveys for public and private sector clients
- Coordinate Section 106 and other applicable federal, state, and local historic preservation reviews for transportation and land development projects

The region’s Commuter Assistance program, and Transportation Demand Management (TDM) reThink Your Commute, aims to bring together businesses and employees to explore the shared benefits of carpooling, vanpooling, transit, biking, walking, and telecommuting. By connecting commuters with alternatives to driving alone, the program strengthens Central Florida’s quality of life by decreasing traffic congestion, improving air quality, conserving natural resources, and helping people save money. You will assist employers with the development and implementation of worksite-specific commuter options programs that reduce drive-alone travel among employees. You will work in a fast-paced environment with daily interaction with the client and employer contacts.
This position will offer 20 hours per week for the first 3 - 6 months, with a high chance of additional weekly hours.
Responsibilities
Performs a range of outreach tasks aimed at enhancing opportunities for individual travelers and commuters to utilize non-drive-alone transportation options, including carpooling, vanpooling, public transit, bicycling, walking, and teleworking. The Archaeology Laboratory Manager is responsible for the processing, cataloguing, preserving, and analyzing material recovered from archaeological investigations. Archaeologist | Atlanta, GA | SE Regional US
VHB’s Atlanta, GA office is seeking an Archaeologist to work with our Environmental Services Group. Key responsibilities of the position include conducting and supervising archaeological surveys, preparing and reviewing archaeological resource assessment reports, and evaluating archaeological resources for energy, transportation, planning, housing, and land development projects. This opportunity will require relocation to the Atlanta area with relocation assistance provided for the successful candidate. Well-qualified candidates will possess a fundamental understanding of the Section 106 process, assessing archaeological site significance under Criterion D, and have a good understanding of the precontact and historic cultures of the Southeast and Tidewater Regions.
We are looking for sharp, creative problem solvers who are passionate about archaeological and historical properties. By working closely with our engineers, designers, planners, and clients, VHB strives to preserve and protect our shared cultural heritage across more than 30 offices along the East Coast.

ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB is seeking a growth-oriented, entrepreneurial, and experienced Transportation Market Lead for Florida. This hire will manage transportation projects, including conceptual, preliminary, and final engineering designs. The ideal candidate will lead the pursuit and development of major and complex projects throughout Florida and lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers and designers in the development of studies, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a variety of transportation infrastructure projects in Florida transportation markets including the Florida Department of Transportation.
Responsibilities
- Leads, develops, and/or supports initiatives in support of and in response to VHB’s Strategic Plan, Southeast regional strategic goals and specifically toward initiatives that support growth in the Transportation Market across Florida
- Evaluates service offerings to ensure alignment with client needs and industry trends within Florida
- Implements recruiting, retention, and training strategies and skills development plans.
- Monitors the deployment of people on projects and pursuits and manages multiple concurrent projects of various topics and complexity
- Prepares and participates in client and proposal related presentations and performs business and client development activities
- Has budgetary responsibility for large projects (typically net revenue greater than $10 million)
- Promotes continuous quality monitoring and improvement. Monitors quality standards and practices
- Directs the work of Service line-focused teams within the region. Carries out supervisory responsibilities either directly or indirectly through subordinate supervisors, planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; coaching and mentoring

VHB’s Richmond, VA office is seeking a Land Development Engineer to join our growing Land Development and Planning and Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope. Our past and present clients include commercial and residential, industrial, hospitality including amusement parks, municipal and local government, federal agencies including the National Park Service, Army Corps. of Engineers, and Forest Service, State DOT’s, municipalities, and private interests throughout the eastern United States.
Responsibilities
- Develop site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of projects, including large-scale industrial developments, biotech, institutional, healthcare and residential
- Support preparation of land development design and permitting documents
- Responsible for project financial performance and client relations

VHB’s Williamsburg, Virginia and Virginia Beach, Virginia offices is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Direct the activities of a survey crew in the performance of Boundary/ALTA surveys, Topographic surveys, Construction and post construction surveys, and transportation surveys.
- Maintain proper care of survey equipment
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements
- Maintain documentation of all phases of survey work
- Perform public records research
- Use public records in execution of survey field work
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in reading, understanding, and evaluating the significance of survey, right-of-way, engineering and architectural drawings with respect to each survey project
- Proficient in operation of total station with electronic data collecting capability
