Now hiring for 3 Tenure-Track Faculty Positions in Physics at Carnegie Mellon University! (3532 hits)

The Physics Department at Carnegie Mellon University is embarking on an ambitious long-term plan that aims to enhance our areas of research strength and to seize new opportunities. The initial set of 3 hires will be in the areas of:

-- Experimental High Energy Physics, focusing on the CMS upgrade and exploring connections to machine learning

-- Particle Theory, emphasizing quantum field theory and interactions with the broader scientific community at CMU

-- Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, focusing on optical phenomena or other areas that complement the quantum electronics group

Appointments at the Assistant Professor level are expected with a start date of September 1, 2018, although for exceptionally qualified candidates an appointment at a higher rank could be considered. Candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, publication list, a brief statement of research plans and teaching plans, and a cover letter; and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be uploaded to Interfolio.
