Central State University junior quarterback Trent Mays was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.
Mays powered Central State to a 40-35 win over NCAA Div. 1 FCS Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The 6'0, 210 pound junior completed 20 of 34 passing attempts for a season-high 334 yards. He threw for one touchdown and ran 27 yards for another score as CSU earned their first victory of the season.
Mays is currently second in the SIAC with 1379 passing yards this season. He also leads the Marauders with 6 rushing touchdowns. Mays is the first CSU student-athlete to earn the weekly honors for the SIAC this season.
CSU will play its final home game of the 2017 season against Fort Valley State on Saturday at 1 pm.
