Faculty and staff are preparing for the school's annual Colloquium scheduled for August 1-4, under the theme, "Delivering on the Promise: Oakwood University in the 21st Century."
President Leslie Pollard said that during Colloquium 2017, "We will continue our focus on a planned and God-directed future. The strategic planning sessions that we have had with each stakeholder group - administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni - underscores our intention to fully deliver on our promise of transforming students through biblically-based education for service to God and humanity across the next five years."
Pastor Debleaire Snell, senior pastor of the First Seventh-day Adventist Church in Huntsville, Ala., will deliver the daily devotionals for all employees and retirees. Dr. David Richardson, Vice President for Spiritual Life and Missions, will organize intercessory prayer ministry teams across the campus as we go into 24/7 prayer for the mission effectiveness of our Oakwood enterprise. "We believe that in dependence on the grace and blessing of God, nothing will be impossible to us!" said Dr. Pollard.
Reports and presentations on specific direction and targeted purposes for the new academic year will be presented. Particular attention will highlight aspects of the Strategic Plan, updates on infusing Biblical Foundations in the curriculum, and progress on implementing the Career Pathways GEM-Connect initiative.
