Allen University Honors Program, Presents Melanin Mosaics – Respect My Assets from the Artist After Dark Series: Advocacy. Activism. Artistry.

Allen University Honors Program presents its spring premier event, Artist after Dark Series: Advocacy. Activism. Artistry. This spring’s event titled: Melanin Mosaics—Respect My Assets features multiple partnerships and collaborations from AU and greater Columbia. Join us to explore the sociocultural influences of women in Hip-Hop—with vibrant mosaics. Each mosaic, pieces of Black women’s stories, is rendered via performance, poetics/spoken word, music or art. The dynamic millennial participants serve as bridges for and to advocacy, activism and artistry. From clever-catchy titled performativity Praise On It, Hairpieces. Kitchens and Edges, Miss-Education (of Black Women), and Melanin Mosaics—Respect My Assets invites all to celebrate self and to examine R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Special guests Shana Dukes (Miss Black South Carolina U.S. Ambassador 2017), Drs. Gloria Boutte` and Nancy Tolson (USC), Kelly Burke (ArtWorks), Tammaka Staley (Poet) and local business owner and stylist, Tesia Jackson (JaxDesigns) provide added vibrancy to a spectacular evening.

Join us as we turn up, tap in and transform.
