Allen University - 146th Founders’ Day Celebration (1746 hits)


Please join Allen University as it hosts its 146th Founders’ Day Celebration on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the John Hurst Gymnatorium located at 1517 Pine Street Columbia, S.C. The Reverend E. Robert Thomas will be the keynote speaker for this momentous event. We will also have a special commemorative stamp unveiling of Richard Allen for his inspirational life and profound contribution to American history by the U.S. Postal Service.

Rev. E. Robert Thomas is an Instructor in the Division of Religion at Allen University in Columbia; SC. Rev. Thomas is the Immediate Past Associate Commissioner for the Columbia Conference AME Church Debutante and Masters Commission and an Instructor within the Columbia Annual Conference Board of Examiners. In addition to this, Rev. Thomas also humbly serves as the Allen University Chaplain.

Reverend Thomas is the proud Pastor of Spring Hill AME Church, Gilbert, SC. Rev. Thomas received his calling into the ministry at the age of eighteen and became ordained an Itinerant Elder at the 108th session of the Northeast South Carolina Annual Conference on September 16, 2000. Before being appointed to Spring Hill, Rev. Thomas served as Pastor of St. Luke AME Church, Sumter SC, Mt. Calvary AME Church, Hartsville, SC, Quinn Chapel AME Church, Sumter, SC and Lever Chapel AME Church in Prosperity, SC.

Rev. Thomas completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC where he was a Professional English major as well as a Political Science/ History minor. Currently Rev. Thomas is a Doctoral Candidate in the Ministry program at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary located in Charlotte, NC. He holds a dual Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Christian Education degrees from Turner Theological Seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA. Rev. Thomas is also a member of the Governing Board of Directors for the Carolina School for Inquiry; an inquiry based elementary charter school in the Richland County School District.
